Cheryl & Jack's Engagement Party

Date: 10th March 2013

Venue: Cafe Vue, Bulleen, Victoria

Two days ago, a very good friend of mine, Cheryl had her engagement party at Cafe Vue in Melbourne. Needless to say, the decoration was amazing and it was done solely by Cheryl herself. So glad I was able to make it for her engagement and have the opportunity to take pretty pictures of her decoration. All the props you see in the above photos are all hers, including ALL the bottles.

She handmade each and every single bottle for the flowers in mint green and pastel pink hues. Yup, every single one of them. I've to applaud her for her dedication and preparation in making that day so, so beautiful. She even custom made those rock candies, cake pops and fortune cookies for her guests to take home. Also, each guest gets to take home those fresh flowers with them! I was so happy and got a little bit greedy and took the bottles home with me too. Hehe, sorry Cheryl.

What do you think of the decoration?

Pretty, ain't it?

Coffee Is Not Just Black

If you've read this blog long enough, you'll know that I love everything coffee! :)
Melbourne is one of the cities with amazing coffee. Ever since I came back to KL, I have yet to find a good coffee place. Even if I had found one, it's too far or too expensive.

Recently I had the opportunity to attend the launch of Nescafe Dolce Gusto - Genio at The Bee, Publika.

Genio is the latest addition to join the Dolce Gusto family.

"Designed and engineered exclusively for NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto™, Genio is great news for coffee lovers who crave for that cup of perfect café-style beverage at home. It comes with the new Play & Select technology that allows automated flow-stop as well as customization of every cup. Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Mocha or any of the newly launched varieties, Grande Intenso, Chococino or Cappuccino Ice are now even easier to be prepared, each cup exactly as you like it."

I was treated to a cup of latte and it was perfect. All you have to do is put a little capsule into the slot of the coffee machine and voila! A perfectly foamed & delicious coffee.

Nescafe Dolce Gusto Genio

Look how cute this little coffee machine looks! For RM 399 you can bring this baby home and you will have a great cup of coffee, every single day. :)

We were also treated to yummy finger food courtesy of The Bee by Nescafe. There was also a presentation from the Senior Brand Manager and also the Business Executive Manager of Nescafe.

True to the theme of their launch, Coffee is Not Just Black, they have also invited local artists to create an artwork based on Nescafe Dolce Gusto theme.

Everyone who participated in creating a coffee themed artwork was rewarded with a Genio coffee machine. There was also a competition for all guests to stand a chance to win a Genio coffee machine home. I really wanted to win one for myself but too bad my photo wasn't creative enough.

Above is my really boring picture and door gift (fridge magnets) from Nescafe. I think I could've done better to be honest but I was too shy to go OTT with poses.

Oh well.

I met a really fashionable girl from Mina magazine named Yvonne at the event. Yup, you guessed it right, she won a coffee machine home with her creatively posed picture. I didn't manage to take a picture of it though.

Check out her leopard print wedges and those moustache nail tips!
Too cute to boot!

Writing this post reminds me of how awesome the Nescafe Dolce Gusto Genio coffee machine is. I might just go out and get myself one! :)

Have a great week everyone!

SHE RAW Exhibition & Aurora Fashion

I love attending photography exhibitions. Looking at an artists' work of art is just incredible. It's so inspiring how they can tell a story with one photograph/artwork.

SHE RAW is an exhibition that supports preventing violence against women.
Photography for a cause? I am sold! :)

"SHE RAW is photographic artist, Lilli Waters’ first solo exhibition, SHE RAW – 41 hauntingly beautiful portraits of women from all walks of life.

The two-year project aims to document everyday women within a state of fantasy whilst drawing directly from their real-life experience and context.

The result is a series of captivating photographic portraits that uncovers the many engaging mysteries and hidden truths which lie, often undiscovered, beneath a woman’s skin. (http://www.sheraw.org)

Early prints from this project won the People’s Choice Award for The Focus Project 2011 and we are pleased to invite you to join us on the opening night/ book launch (3rd May 2012) to celebrate Lillie’s debut exhibition."

Good news for those of you who like UK brands like Warehouse (my personal favourite) and Oasis.
They will be available online, exclusively for their Australian customers via www.andotherbrands.com

Oasis

Warehouse

"Aurora Fashions, the UK group behind internationally respected women’s fashion brands – Oasis and
Warehouse London – is thrilled to announce the launch of the first e-commerce site in Australia this Autumn.

The new transactional site, www.andotherbrands.com, which is due to launch 15th May 2012, will have
a shared basket, allowing convenient navigation from one brand to another. One combined checkout
will maximize cross-selling opportunities and the brands will benefit from shared traffic whilst the customer receives a stronger, more aggregated product offering to choose from.

These dynamic fashion destinations will be available on one e-commerce platform and will cater
specifically to Australian consumers by providing excellent customer service through local shipping rates
and a consistent and authentic customer experience.

The Australian website is one of five international launches the brands have planned for 2012, also including
launches in Europe and the United States, giving local consumers around the world greater access to the
trend-setting, high street fashions of London."

Stay tuned on 15th May 2012 and shop away lovelies!!! :)

Fashion: {LMFF} Frankie & the rest

The saying goes like this, all the good things must come to an end. This will be the last post on LMFF 2012. The pictures that you will see on this post are from the Frankie runway show, fashion industry forum, powder room and some random street style shots. I had such a fabulous time at the festival so much so, that I didn't want it to end. I even met a couple of blogger friends along the way! I would definitely love to attend next year's festival! :)

The powder room this year is still as popular as the previous years, if not more. Every time I plan to avoid the long queue to get into the powder room, I fail miserably. I always end up waiting for at least 20 - 30 minutes.  This is when you should be thankful for good friends who share similar interest as you do. Lucky me, I always have Cheryl to accompany me to such events.

Braids are still very popular this year, fish tail in particular. On the Frankie runway, the models had messy, more elaborated fish tail braids. In the powder room, there were 3 hairstylists working on the visitor's hair in order for them to have similar hairstyles to those of the runway.

Last year I had my hair braided and I loved how it look, so I opted for the same this year.

Oh, hello there!
However, I can't express the same love for this year's styling on my hair. The chunky braid looked so out of place on my head and I had a loose braid end on the left side of my head, which looked totally odd.

This year there was also a Berlei bra fitting kiosk for you to get your bra size fitted. Inside, you can munch on finger food and have a sip of champagne while waiting for your turn to get fitted. Of course, there's a goodie bag for you after the fitting.

The LMFF Fashion Industry Forum was an eye opener for me. It was my first time attending a fashion forum and I must say, it was very informational and surprisingly enjoyable. Unfortunately, I could only attend one out of the three forums they had.

The founders of Fashion Torque just so happened to sit right next to me. They were such nice individuals and it was lovely meeting them.
Phillip Boon and Jenny Bannister

Favourite quote from the forum was by Adam Ferrier (consumer psychologist) :"To succeed in business is to succeed in changing behaviour".

Here are some street style snaps that I managed to capture. This fashionable lady below caught my eye not once but twice and on different days. Her outfit the next day was a lime green cape which I thought looked fantastic on her! Wish I knew who she was.

Love.

One of the many Chadstone shuttle bus ladies for LMFF wearing neon orange dress by Calvin Klein which they can't keep for themselves.

I bumped into the fashionable duo behind couturing.com during LMFF. Both of them are always wearing the trendiest and beautiful designer pieces which I am always so envious of. Thom is wearing Lisa Ho's floral blazer, which was such a hit and Lisa is wearing Mary Katrantzou for Topshop dress, which is now sold out Australia wide.

Last but not least, look at all the goodie bags I gathered from LMFF! They are still sitting in a bag being chucked away at one corner in my room.

I hope you've enjoyed all my LMFF blog posts this year. I would love to hear your thoughts on this year's festival. Leave me a comment below. :)

Have a fabulous Easter weekend everyone!

Fashion: {LMFF} Independent Runway

The LMFF Independent Runway presents some of Australia's independent, bold and edgy labels. It was organised by Yen magazine, which is one of my favourite local magazines! So I was really excited to see this show. Ksubi, Something Else by Natalie Wood, Jolet, and One Fell Swoop were amongst the designers who showcased their designs on the runway.

Ready, set, go!

Adorable fashionistas to be at the front row with their camera phones :)

Something Else by Natalie Wood

I wasn't in sync with the camera that night so I didn't manage to capture every designer's pieces that I like. My favourite would be Something Else by Natalie Wood and also Jolet. I loved the digital print combined with simple silhouette that Jolet incorporated in her design.

One more post on LMFF and that would be a wrap for my 2012 LMFF event coverage. Stay tuned for more.

Fashion: {LMFF} Famous for Fashion Series -High Street Edition

The LMFF Famous for Fashion Series-High Street edition was presented by the City of Stonnington and Melbourne Review at the Malvern Town Hall. The interior of the venue's hall was beautiful, especially the high ceilings with pretty little details.

Designers like Lisa Ho, Charlie Brown, Hemden, Nicolangela, Carla Zampati and many more showcased their in store Autumn/Winter collection at the event. I have seen most of these designs at the recent Myer Autumn/Winter show I went to. This time around I get to concentrate on taking pictures instead.

Enjoy the pictures!

That's me and Twee being silly at the photo booth they had outside the hall :)

My favourite piece would be the gold sequin maxi by Charlie Brown and brown one shoulder dress from Lisa Ho.
Have a lovely weekend everyone! :)
