You know when you first arrive in New York City, you would expect it to be like a scene from Sex and the City. I've watched the show countless times and I was always envious of how Carrie can rock a pair of Manolos down 5th Ave in her very chic ensemble. So I imagined that it'd be like that. LIES. ALL LIES. Unless you have a driver or you drive everywhere you go, strolling in heels was impossible in New York City. For me, at least. We had to take the subway, walk up and down 4 flights of stairs (very steep ones) to get to our lofts, run to catch the subway train and basically walk a lot on our feet. I brought my Jimmy Choos with me but never once worn them when I was in NYC. It was comfortable Nikes for me most of the time.
Stripes in Amsterdam
There are so many things to do in Amsterdam but my favourite would be just strolling down the streets of Amsterdam. You get to see so many things; the local cafes, the fashionable people on their chic bicycles, school kids riding bicycles with their friends, pretty doorsteps, you name it, they have it.
Another thing I realised while strolling were the traffic light poles. They were all striped in black and white and go so cohesively with the zebra crossing. I also think I noticed them a lot cause I was hanging by the poles a lot before crossing the road. See in Amsterdam, as lovely as it is, the cyclists don't follow the pedestrian traffic light that much. I swear every time the light turns green, I looked to the right and then left, TWICE, and still a cyclist will zoom past me. Please bear in mind that the amount of bicycles in Amsterdam is slightly more than the population there.
